What Couples Fight About
Couples commonly disagree, argue or fight, about money, scheduling, domestic responsibilities, parenting, and sex. In each case, after a few minutes of arguing, we actually fight about the way we are fighting. This shift is where the trouble lies. Instead of of staying on track, focusing on a single topic of dispute, we make our partner the problem that needs to be solved. We move away from the issue and resist our partners because of the way they are communicating about the subject of the disagreement.
“staying on topic is one of the most important ways to prevent fights as well as resolve conflict.”
